This is the back yard of my wife’s family home in Samoa

This is the back yard of my wife’s family home in Samoa. After I shot this image we dragged a traditional canoe into the water and paddled out to get a better view along the coast. We could even see Samoa’s big island, Savai'i, in the distance. I wasn’t game to bring the camera.

I know too well how electronics and salt water don’t mix. This part of the coast is protected by an outer reef and the water was calm and still. We floated off shore watching the sky change until it was dark. I can tell you it is good exercise rowing those big heavy canoes, calved out of a single tree. Then again I haven’t seen many small Samoan guys.
