Vision

The UAS Sitka Campus serves as a primary resource for learning opportunities in our community. We aim to provide a place where people from across the region and the state can enrich their lives and build a path to their future.

Mission

·                     To meet the diverse, lifelong educational needs of our native and non-native community
·                     To assist all students in reaching their immediate educational long-range career goals
·                     To provide accessible postsecondary academic, vocational and continuing educational opportunities
·                     To enrich the lives and embrace the cultures of our community, region and the state

Community Outreach

The city of Sitka, population 8,900, hosts the smallest of the three University of Alaska Southeast campuses. Due to its smaller size, the Sitka campus has strong connections within the community, including neighbors Mt. Edgecumbe High School and SEARHCCommunity Hospital.

Distance Learning and Technology

UAS Sitka has been recognized for its distance education since the early 1980s. As an active participant in the University of Alaska Learning Consortium (UALC), the Sitka campus is linked to many college campuses throughout Alaska. UAS Sitka offers distance-learning opportunities to Alaska-based students both locally and abroad, and specializes in the statewide reach of rural areas.

Student Success

UAS Sitka focuses its efforts on Alaska Native, rural, and low-income students, in addition to the Sitka-based student population. It acts as the educational center for Sitka-based programs such as Health Information Management, Health Information Technology, Law Enforcement, and Fisheries Technology.
The Sitka campus awards workforce credentials, occupational endorsements, certificates and associate degrees.
